K&N firstly would like to wish all our clients (old and new) a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2011.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who follows our blog, and gains from the varied information we publish, property based as well as general listings of activities, venues and news, relevant to the beautiful area in which we live.
The great news in Ojen at the moment, is despite the recession, there are a few new businesses opened with apparent success much to the delight of the residents.
The other news is that now smoking is now banned in all public places, including bars and restaurants. Due to our great climate, this will make very little impact as we live in a fantastic outdoor culture, spending our evenings on the terraces of our many friendly bars.
The Pound seems to have settled at around the 1.2 Euros to the Pound, and our increased level of enquiries seem to confirm new confidence in buying abroad.
K&N still have some very good bargain properties available, and of course we will further negotiate on our clients behalf.

Smallville Cafe are presenting a night of rock music on Saturday February 19th 2011 starting at 21.00. Smallville Cafe can be found at Calle Carretera No. 63. Ojen. Entrance is free and drinks are for sale at normal village prices. Smallville Cafe has comfortable lounge areas, as well as 2 pool tables, 2 Futbolin tables, darts, Wi-Fi, and music videos for your enjoyment. It is our pleasure and privilege to present the new hotspot of Ojén, the picturesque white village just 10 minutes from Marbella.
The Smallville chill-out café is very spacious, its decoration is cosy and contemporary. The comfortable armchairs and sofas as well as the two VIP areas offer a sitting-room atmosphere, where clients can chat and relax, watch television (Canal + Football & Gol Televisión), work on their laptops (Free Wifi) or play chess

At Smallville café, we also have two pool tables, a darts machine, two baby-foots and a game-machine for the little ones. The Smallville chill-out café is indeed a welcoming place for all ages. Ojeando Music Festival Ojen (Marbella, Malaga, Spain)

NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!!!!!! The Ojeando Music Festival is an annual event, which this year takes place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July. There will be around 20 acts performing in the square, covering a wide range of music, and top level DJs playing the night away in the caves. We have always greatly enjoyed this event and I am sure this year will be even better. More information can be found at www.ojeando-festival.com
Champneys Marbella (Ojen, Malaga, Spain)

This morning I visited the latest development in Ojen and was delighted to see the progress being made on this beautiful site.
This project will be very good for the village of Ojen and its businesses.
Luxury UK spa group Champneys has teamed with the developer Casa Nita SL to broaden its operation to Marbella, Spain.
Champneys Marbella is set on a secluded mountainside location giving fabulous views down the valley to Marbella and will contain both a spa retreat and residential apartments and penthouses.
Fully operational by April 2011, spa facilities will cover 3,000m2 and include 25 treatment rooms and an outdoor swimming pool incorporated in landscaped surroundings.
The development is situated in the Puerto de Ojen, 15 minutes away from the Mediterranean and the centre of Marbella. www.champneysmarbella.com
Semana Santa (Easter) in Ojen (Marbella, Malaga, Spain)

Tonight at 8.00pm (Thursday April 1st) starting from our beautiful church in the centre of the village square (La Plaza) is the ceremonial candle-lit procession where the statue of our beloved virgin is slowly paraded through the main streets of Ojen to be worshipped by the emotional crowds that line the streets each year for this important event. Friday 2nd sees a similar procession again starting at our church at 8.00pm and the final procession is on Sunday 4th starting around mid-day. After the processions take a meal in one of Ojens fine restaurants or just a beer and a tapa in one of the terrace bars that surround the square.

Nobody could really access how the recession was going to hit a small community like Ojen and what changes it may have on this idyllic white Andulucian village. The good news is that not much changed. We have not had a glut of repossessed properties due to the fact that most properties here are Spanish owned and by nature the Spanish are not credit hungry, so most properties were purchased within the buyers means. The council has continued to invest in the infrastructure, creating new roads and repairing others and generally keeping Ojen looking good. Private investment has continued, with the luxury Champneys Spa Resort rising from the ground at an incredible rate, a couple of new bars opening along with a restaurant and a much needed small supermarket. We have noticed a large increase in enquiries both for properties and land, both from our website www.kandnpropertybuying.com, and general office walk-ins. With Easter this weekend, we are expecting to be busy, along with all the bars and restaurants, as the famous processions bring many visitors to Ojen. The weather is predicted to be good with temperatures in the low 20 degrees C. Hard Rock Cafe Marbella (Malaga, Spain)

K&N met clients for lunch yesterday at the newly opened Hard Rock Cafe (Marbella). It is situated in Puerto Banus on the corner, diagonally opposite the El Corte Ingles entrance, making parking very easy either in the public car park directly opposite or in the nearby El Corte Ingles parking. Now what did we think? We were greeted in a friendly and efficient manner at the entrance, given a choice of a smoking or non-smoking table and duly shown to our chosen table. The waiter greeted us quickly with a smile, and took our drinks order while we chose our meals. He even took the trouble to warn us not to over order as the meals are generous in size. The meals arrived quickly, well presented and hot, showing the same quality of service we had recieved in other Hard Rock Cafes across the globe. The prices were OK, and a burger and a drink could get you change from 15 Euros. The only disappointing aspect was the decor. It was very comfortable, but very clinical, lacking in the glitze and glamour of other Hard Rock Cafes largely due to the limited amount of memorabilia displayed. This is guaranteed to be a very busy and popular venue in the evenings and worth a visit. At least someone has had the courage to open a new venue in these very difficult times. We wish them good luck.
Ojen Feria (Ojen, Malaga, Spain)

K&N along with all the Ojen locals are preparing for the 2009 Ojen Feria. The Feria starts on Thursday 8th October at 21.00. The opening act is a well known Feria band called Orquesta Velada who are very professional and will keep you entertained with all the well known Spanish classics. They are followed by the coronation of the new Reinas and Damas of Ojen. At 22.00 the band Orquestra Velada will play into the early hours accompanied by the Dany Cantos dance troup. Friday the 9th October has entertainment starting at 9.30 am featuring other bands during throughout the day. The final band (surprise) will play into the late hours. Saturday 10th October resumes the entertainment at 13.30 begining gently and building up through the day until the surprise act plays from 24.00. Sunday 11th October starts again at 13.30 with entertainment for the children. The main party starts at 21.30 with music through the night. Monday 12th October (Final Day of Fereia, and also a Spanish public holiday) starts at 11.00 and carries through until the grand finale at 02.00 where the Feria comes to an end, and we all recover for next years celebration. Not to be missed. People flock in from all the surrounding villages as well as Marbella and the Costa. If you want a quiet weekend give this one a miss, if you want to see the Spanish partying as only the Spanish can, please come along. You wont regret this experience.
Bargain Hotels on the Costa Del Sol
