In early January 2012 K&N reported on this blog, that October 2011 had been our all time record number of enquiries and we tried to analyse why, and came up with a few probable conclusions. Today I found this chart, published in the Sur in English which was sourced from the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (INE) and interestingly confirms that property sales in the Province of Malaga are bucking the trends and are now increasing at a positive rate with an increase of 55% in November compared to October. We hope this positive trend continues and clients are taking advantage of the large quantity of bargain properties available now.

K&N firstly would like to wish all our clients (old and new) a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2011.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who follows our blog, and gains from the varied information we publish, property based as well as general listings of activities, venues and news, relevant to the beautiful area in which we live.
The great news in Ojen at the moment, is despite the recession, there are a few new businesses opened with apparent success much to the delight of the residents.
The other news is that now smoking is now banned in all public places, including bars and restaurants. Due to our great climate, this will make very little impact as we live in a fantastic outdoor culture, spending our evenings on the terraces of our many friendly bars.
The Pound seems to have settled at around the 1.2 Euros to the Pound, and our increased level of enquiries seem to confirm new confidence in buying abroad.

Now is a great time to start planning a property purchase as prices are now bottoming at about a seven year low, some having levelled at about 50% of their 2005 value. We appreciate that the falling pound had taken a lot of interest away from our UK clients, especially when the Pound was only buying one Euro. Now is the time to keep an eye on the exchange rates as the Euro weakens against the Pound. This afternoon as quoted by HIFX international exchange, 1 Pound will buy 1.2077 Euros. This morning I visited the latest development in Ojen and was delighted to see the progress being made on this beautiful site.
This project will be very good for the village of Ojen and its businesses.
Luxury UK spa group Champneys has teamed with the developer Casa Nita SL to broaden its operation to Marbella, Spain.
Champneys Marbella is set on a secluded mountainside location giving fabulous views down the valley to Marbella and will contain both a spa retreat and residential apartments and penthouses.
Fully operational by April 2011, spa facilities will cover 3,000m2 and include 25 treatment rooms and an outdoor swimming pool incorporated in landscaped surroundings.
